Khafre

Khafre
(reigned c. 2558–2532 BC)
His name might be read as Rakhaef and was known in Greek as Chephren. Son of Khufuof Dynasty 4. He succeeded his brother, Djedefre. For his burial, he moved back to the site at Giza and erected the second pyramid at that site close to that of his father. His valley temple was excavated in 1860 and yielded much fine sculpture. It is believed that his architects fashioned the Sphinx after his likeness from a rocky outcrop near his pyramid.
